Become the source AI search quotes
Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity now answer many buying questions before anyone clicks a link. We make your pages the sources those answers draw on, and track how often you appear.
AI SEO services exist because the search results page has changed shape. For many questions, Google now shows an AI Overview above the links, and a growing number of buyers ask ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity for a shortlist instead of searching at all. These systems read the web, choose a handful of sources and write an answer. If your business is not among those sources, you can rank well and still be invisible at the moment a decision is made.
Generative engine optimisation (GEO) and answer engine optimisation (AEO) are the names for making your content easy for these systems to find, trust and quote. The foundations are the same as good SEO: a crawlable site, pages that answer real questions and clear signals of trust. The emphasis shifts towards direct answers, precisely stated facts, consistent information about your business across the web, and mentions of your brand beyond your own site.
For one real estate developer that already held page-one rankings, we tuned the whole SEO programme to how AI results select sources. Within six months, the brand ranked for 25+ high-value keywords across AI Overviews and page one.
What's included in AI seo: GEO and AEO
AI visibility baseline
A tracked set of buyer questions checked in Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, recording who is cited today.
Answer-first content
Key pages restructured so the direct answer comes first, followed by the detail, figures and context a model can quote accurately.
Entity clarity
The same facts about your business, people, locations and offerings on your site, Google Business Profile, directories and social profiles.
Structured data
Organization, LocalBusiness, Service, Product, Article and FAQ schema that matches what visitors can see on the page.
Citations and evidence
Original data, named sources, author credentials and last-updated dates, so claims can be checked and trusted.
Freshness programme
A review schedule for pages that answer time-sensitive questions, such as prices, rules, launches and availability.
Brand mentions
Coverage in publications, directories, industry lists and community discussions that AI systems read when building shortlists.
AI crawler access and llms.txt
Robots rules checked for Googlebot, Bingbot, OAI-SearchBot and PerplexityBot, with an llms.txt file added where it helps.
- AI visibility baseline report
- Priority question map
- Answer-first page rewrites
- Schema markup
- Entity and citation clean-up
- Monthly AI visibility tracking
The process, step by step
Technical and entity fixes can appear in AI answers within weeks of pages being recrawled. Being cited consistently across many questions usually takes three to six months; our real estate client reached 25+ keywords across AI Overviews and page one in six months. Fast-track options are available for the audit and technical fixes, but citations still depend on recrawling.

Who this works for
Good fit
- Buyers research your category with questions, comparisons and "best" lists before they contact anyone.
- You already have a crawlable website and some search visibility to build on.
- You can share real facts, figures and expertise that competitors cannot copy.
Not a fit
- ✕Your site is not indexed or has serious technical problems. Fix the SEO foundations first.
- ✕You want a guaranteed mention in ChatGPT. Nobody controls what AI assistants say.
- ✕You want AI-written articles published in bulk to game the system.
AI SEO works best as part of an SEO retainer, because the same pages and trust signals serve both. Cost depends on the number of questions tracked, pages rewritten and the mentions work needed. You get a written scope after the baseline.
How AI search picks its sources
Each AI system gathers information differently, which is why visibility has to be checked in more than one place.
- Google AI Overviews and AI Mode draw on Google's own search index. They often run several related searches to cover parts of a question and link to pages that answer those parts well. Google says no special markup is needed: a page has to be indexed and eligible to appear with a snippet.
- ChatGPT search retrieves pages from the web when a question needs current information. OpenAI's OAI-SearchBot crawler must be allowed for your pages to appear as cited sources. Blocking GPTBot, the training crawler, does not remove you from search answers.
- Perplexity searches the web for each question and shows its sources prominently, using its own crawler, PerplexityBot.
- Gemini uses Google Search to ground many of its answers, so strong Google visibility carries over.
A practical point: the Google-Extended setting in robots.txt controls whether content is used to train Gemini models. It does not remove your pages from AI Overviews.
What AI SEO services should change on your site
- Answer first. Put a clear, one or two sentence answer directly under each question heading, then the detail.
- State facts precisely. "Possession in December 2027, 2 and 3 BHK from 1,050 sq ft" is quotable. "Luxurious homes at great prices" is not.
- Make the entity unambiguous. Use the same business name, address, founders, services and locations everywhere, and link your official profiles with Organization schema.
- Show evidence. Named authors with real credentials, sources for statistics and original data that others will reference.
- Keep it fresh. Update pages when prices, rules or availability change, and show the last-updated date.
- Earn mentions elsewhere. AI shortlists lean on what third parties say about you: press coverage, directories, reviews and industry lists.
- Treat llms.txt as optional. Useful as a tidy summary, not a ranking lever.
How GEO and AEO results are measured
There is no single AI visibility report yet, so we combine several signals. A fixed question set is checked monthly in each AI tool. GA4 shows referral visits from sources such as chatgpt.com, perplexity.ai and gemini.google.com. Search Console includes AI Overviews and AI Mode clicks within overall web search data, so trends on target pages still matter. Adding "How did you hear about us?" to your enquiry form captures the rest.
Mistakes to avoid
- Rewriting every page into stiff question-and-answer blocks. Write for people; structure for machines.
- Publishing mass AI-generated content. It adds nothing a model does not already know.
- Accidentally blocking AI crawlers through firewall or CDN bot settings nobody reviewed.
- Ignoring local signals. For businesses that serve specific cities, local SEO feeds directly into AI recommendations.
Property developers can see how this applies to project and brand searches on our real estate SEO page.

ExploreQuestions people ask us
What is the difference between SEO, GEO and AEO?
SEO aims to rank pages in search results. AEO, answer engine optimisation, aims to be the direct answer shown in features such as AI Overviews and voice results. GEO, generative engine optimisation, aims to be cited or recommended by AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Perplexity. All three rely on the same base of crawlable, trustworthy, well-structured content.
How do Google AI Overviews choose which sources to show?
Google builds AI Overviews from pages already in its search index, often running several related searches behind the scenes to cover different parts of a question. A page must be indexed and eligible to show a snippet. Beyond that, pages that answer a specific part of the question clearly and credibly are more likely to be linked.
Do we need an llms.txt file?
It is optional. An llms.txt file is a proposed plain-text summary of your site for AI tools. It is cheap to add, but no major AI search engine has confirmed using it to choose sources, and Google has said its search systems do not use it. We add one where useful, never ahead of content and crawlability.
How do you measure AI search visibility?
With a fixed set of buyer questions checked every month across Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, recording whether you are cited or recommended. We add referral traffic from AI tools in GA4, Search Console trends, branded search growth and enquiries that mention finding you through an AI assistant.
Can you guarantee our brand appears in ChatGPT answers?
No. AI answers vary by wording, location, time and the user's history, and no company controls them. Anyone promising guaranteed placement is selling something they cannot deliver. What we can do is make your business the clearest, most credible and most consistently described source on the questions that matter, and measure the change.
Will AI Overviews reduce our website traffic?
For simple informational questions, often yes, because the answer appears on the results page. Commercial questions still send clicks, and people who click through from an AI answer have usually done more research. Being cited also keeps your brand in front of buyers who do not click. Judge success on enquiries, not clicks alone.
