Redesign your website without losing traffic
We rebuild dated websites around what buyers need to see today, and protect the rankings, backlinks and enquiries the old site already brings in.
Most requests for website redesign services begin with a feeling. The site looks dated, the sales team avoids sharing the link, or a competitor has just launched something sharper. Those are fair reasons to act, but a redesign that only changes the look can make things worse. Pages that ranked disappear, old links break, forms stop reaching the sales team, and search traffic falls for months.
Z Estates shows the other path. The developer has built in Odisha since 1984 and completed more than 30 projects, yet its old website did not show that legacy, ranked for just 4 keywords and drew 136 visits a month. We redesigned it to present past, current and upcoming projects clearly, with quote requests throughout, then ran SEO on the new foundation. Between October 2023 and April 2024, ranking keywords grew from 4 to 95 and monthly visits from 136 to 758.
A good redesign starts by measuring what the current site already does well. It keeps that, fixes what holds the business back, and proves the result against a benchmark taken before launch.
What's included in website redesign
Current site benchmark
Rankings, organic traffic, top landing pages, backlinks, speed and conversions recorded from Search Console and analytics before anything changes.
URL inventory and redirect map
Every existing URL listed and matched to its closest new page with a 301 redirect, so links and rankings carry across.
Content review
Each page marked keep, merge, rewrite or remove, based on the traffic and enquiries it actually brings in.
New site structure
Menus and page hierarchy rebuilt around how visitors look for your projects, services or products today.
Visual redesign
A fresh layout, type and colour system that reflects the business as it is now, approved before development starts.
Speed and Core Web Vitals
Lighter pages, modern image formats and cleaner code, tested on mid-range phones rather than office laptops.
Tracking rebuilt and verified
GA4 events, Tag Manager, ad pixels and form alerts rebuilt and tested, so no enquiry is lost on launch day.
Post-launch monitoring
Crawl errors, broken links, indexing and rankings watched closely after the switch, with hosting and maintenance plans available after that.

The process, step by step
A focused redesign of a small site can be done in 3 to 4 weeks. Larger sites with many pages, content rewrites or a change of platform take longer; the Z Estates project, which covered the redesign, a shoot and CMS setup, took 60 days. Fast-track delivery is available when a launch date is fixed.
Benchmark and audit
Week 1Record where the site stands today, pull 12 months of Search Console data and list the pages and links worth protecting.
Structure and redirect plan
Weeks 1 to 2The new sitemap, the content decision for every page and a redirect map that leaves no old URL pointing at nothing.
Design
Weeks 2 to 4Key templates designed and approved, starting with the pages that bring the most traffic and enquiries.
Build and migrate on staging
Weeks 3 to 7Development on a staging link hidden from search, with content moved across, redirects built and forms tested.
Launch and monitor
Launch week, then 4 to 6 weeksStaging blocks removed, sitemap submitted, redirects spot-checked and results compared against the benchmark.

Who this works for
Good fit
- Your site is several years old, slow on phones or hard for your team to update.
- It already brings in some search traffic or enquiries you cannot afford to lose.
- The business has changed, with new projects, services or markets the site does not reflect.
Not a fit
- ✕You only want new colours on the same pages. A design refresh may be enough.
- ✕Your site is new and has no traffic, speed or conversion problems yet.
- ✕You need thousands of pages migrated within a week, with no time to test redirects.
Redesign cost depends on how many pages and templates exist, how much content needs rewriting, whether the platform changes and how many URLs need redirects. Hosting and maintenance plans are available after launch. We quote after a short audit, with a written scope.
Signs you need website redesign services, not a quick fix
Not every tired website needs a full redesign. A redesign is worth it when several of these are true:
- The site takes more than a few seconds to show anything useful on a phone.
- Your team cannot update projects, prices or offers without calling a developer.
- The site describes the business you were five years ago, not the one you run today.
- Enquiries from the website have fallen while traffic has stayed flat.
- Security warnings, plugin conflicts or a builder theme nobody supports keep breaking pages.
If only one applies, fix that problem directly. If three or more do, plan a redesign.
A redesign checklist that protects search traffic
- Crawl the current site and export every URL, title and meta description.
- Export 12 months of Search Console data and flag every page with meaningful clicks.
- List pages with backlinks from a backlink tool, so linked pages are never lost.
- Map redirects one to one. Each old URL should point to its closest new equivalent. Sending everything to the homepage is treated by Google much like a missing page.
- Keep titles and core copy on pages that rank, unless there is a clear reason to change them.
- Hide the staging site from search, and write down exactly how, so it is reversed at launch.
- Rebuild tracking and send a test enquiry through every form before the switch.
- After launch, submit the new sitemap, test a sample of old URLs, and check Search Console for crawl errors weekly for at least a month.
Common redesign mistakes
- Leaving "noindex" or a blocked robots.txt from staging on the live site. It is the single most damaging launch error and one of the most common.
- Deleting old blog posts or project pages because they look untidy. Some quietly bring in steady search traffic.
- Trading speed for effect. Large sliders and autoplay videos often make a redesign slower than the site it replaced.
- Forgetting integrations. Forms, chat widgets, CRM connections and ad pixels are easy to miss when templates change.
What a redesign can deliver, and what it cannot
A redesign fixes presentation, structure and speed. It does not, by itself, create authority or content depth. That is why the Z Estates results came from a redesign followed by an SEO programme. Motwani Constructions followed a similar order: its site was first restructured around search best practice, improving site performance by about 30% within 15 days, before a new corporate site was built in 7 days. ExploreQuestions people ask us
Will a website redesign hurt our Google rankings?
It can, if URLs change without redirects, ranking content is dropped or a staging "noindex" tag is left in place. When those are handled, short fluctuations in the first few weeks are normal and traffic should recover. Speed and structure improvements often help. We benchmark before launch so any drop is spotted and traced quickly.
Should we redesign the current site or rebuild from scratch?
If the platform is sound and the problem is how the site looks and reads, redesign on the same platform. If it is slow, insecure, full of plugins nobody maintains or impossible for your team to edit, rebuild. Either way, the URL map, content decisions and redirects are the same work.
How long does a website redesign take?
A small site with a clear brief can be redesigned in 3 to 4 weeks. Sites with many pages, new content or a platform change take longer. The Z Estates project on WordPress, covering the redesign, a shoot and CMS setup, took 60 days. Content approvals usually decide the timeline more than design or development do.
Do we have to rewrite all our content?
No. Pages that already rank and convert should keep their core content and page titles, with updates where facts are out of date. Thin or duplicate pages are merged. New content is written only where buyers are asking questions the old site never answered.
Can you redesign a WordPress site and keep it on WordPress?
Yes. The Z Estates redesign was built on WordPress with Elementor. If your current platform works and your team knows it, staying put is usually the safer choice. We recommend moving platforms only for a clear reason, such as speed, security or editing needs, because a platform change adds migration risk.
How do we know if the redesign worked?
Compare the benchmark with the same measures 60 to 90 days after launch. Look at organic clicks, ranking keywords, page speed on mobile, conversion rate and the number of enquiries per month. A redesign that looks better but brings fewer enquiries has not worked.
